Our purpose

Understand the code you ship

Code ships faster than people can learn it. Tech Professor exists so the people who merge still learn what went out.

The problem

Fast merges, thin understanding

It has never been easier to ship. Skim a plan. Click Approve. Merge.

The cost is not speed. It is that nobody had to think through the change. After enough of that, you can click through a codebase you no longer know.

When most of the drafting is done for you, learning is how you keep the craft, not just the merge.

What we believe

Four things we build against

Learning is part of the job

When most of the code is written for you, understanding it is the job.

Understand what ships

Tools can draft. They do not replace knowing what went out.

Understanding has to be earned

Skimming a plan is not learning. Tours and quizzes make you do the work.

Teams learn what they merge

A green check is not shared knowledge. The change lands when people can reason about it.

What we build

Learning you cannot fake

Point it at a repo, a PR, or your docs. It writes a tour, a quiz, and flashcards from the real files.

  • Tours walk the real files step by step.
  • Quizzes check that you can reason about the change.
  • Flashcards keep the hard parts from fading after merge.
  • Tutor and Verify let you ask in context, and check whether material still matches the code.
  • MCP lets the tool that shipped the change write the course. It does not replace understanding.
What we are not

If a surface rewards skim-and-click, we have drifted

Not AI docs that replace reading the code

We stay on the real lines. We do not summarize them away.

Not a chat that answers so you never struggle

The Tutor helps you reason. Quizzes and tours still make you earn it.

Not a replacement for review

We make review stick, so the next incident is not the first time you really look.

The team

Built by one engineer

Vilfred Sikker Dreijer is building Tech Professor so people who ship code can keep learning.
